Privacy
This page explains what SiliconX Software Solutions collects through this website, why, how long we keep it, and how you can see or delete it. We handle it under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Who we are
Silicon X is the brand of SiliconX Software Solutions, a business registered in Nova Scotia, Canada. Will Soltani, co-founder, is responsible for how we handle personal information.
What we collect
We collect what you type into the project brief:
- What you’re building, and your description of it
- When you’d like to start, and any fixed date
- A budget range
- Your name and email address
- If you choose to add them: your company, your website and where you’re based
A few technical values come with it: when you started and sent the form, whether you started from “What are you building?”, and the page’s language. The two times help us filter out automated spam.
To limit how many briefs one connection can send in a day, the form service keeps a code made from your IP address for two days. The code changes every day, and your IP address itself is never stored.
No analytics, no cookies
This site has no analytics and no tracking, and it sets no cookies.
If you reload the page while filling in the brief, your answers to the first three steps may be kept in your browser’s session storage. They stay on your device and are cleared when you close the tab. Your name and email address are never kept there.
Why we collect it
Only to read your brief and reply to it. The form doesn’t add you to a mailing list, and it sends you nothing.
Where it goes
When you send the brief, it passes through Amazon CloudFront’s network to our form service on Amazon Web Services, in its Canada (Central) Region (ca-central-1). It is stored there in a database (Amazon DynamoDB).
One notification email is sent through Amazon SES to our co-founder, Will Soltani, so he can reply. It arrives in his mailbox, which is hosted by Namecheap Private Email. The email’s reply-to address is the one you gave.
Nothing is sent to you automatically. The notification to us is the only email the form sends.
So two service providers handle your brief for us: Amazon Web Services and Namecheap Private Email.
Like any website, our hosting on Amazon Web Services receives standard request details, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and run the form.
How long we keep it
The stored copy is deleted automatically after 24 months, usually within a few days of that date. Our co-founder deletes the notification email from his mailbox by hand at the same point, or sooner if you ask.
See, correct or delete your information
To see what we hold about you, correct it or have it deleted, email Will Soltani, co-founder, at will@soltani.org. We may ask you to confirm the email address you used.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. We then delete your brief.
If you’re not satisfied
Tell us first, and we’ll try to put it right. If we haven’t answered, or you’re not satisfied with our answer, you may be able to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
